Michael Jackson to be buried without brain
Michael Jackson was buried on Tuesday in Los Angeles without his brain, or at least part of it. Coroners had decided to keep part of the singer’s brain in order to run further tests to determine the cause of death, which has yet to be established.
Jackson died from an apparent coronary on June 25, and while his body was released to the family the following day his brain was not. And the organ may not be returned for several weeks as examiners wait for it to “harden” before they can conduct tests.
Chris Brown reportedly beat up Rihanna
The allegations against singer Chris Brown took an even more serious turn Monday (February 9) when TMZ reported that the victim in the case was the 19-year-old singer’s longtime girlfriend, Rihanna. The Los Angeles Times and Us Weekly have also reported that Rihanna was the victim.
Additionally, though police are not revealing the victim’s name because the alleged incident involves domestic violence, TMZ claimed the crime report was made in Rihanna’s birth name, Robyn Fenty.
Although TMZ initially reported that a deadly weapon was involved in the case, it later retracted that claim.
Hours before Chris Brown was charged with making criminal threats against a woman that may have been Rihanna, the singer and his girlfriend were seen in pictures together at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy shindig, smiling and appearing playfully at ease with each other.
51st Grammy Winners dominated by Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, Coldplay
Lil Wayne may have come into the Grammys with the most nominations, but the rapper had to settle for a handful of off-camera gramophones and the prime-time Best Rap Album trophy as the duo of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss dominated the night’s major categories.
Though Coldplay came in with seven nominations, they also had to settle for a trio of awards. The Grammy-catnip hookup between the former Led Zeppelin singer and the bluegrass icon garnered five trophies, including Album of the Year.
The awards show featured a slew of amazing performances, as well as the noticeable absence of two nominated artists and expected performers, Rihanna and Chris Brown, who were scratched at the last minute following an alleged domestic incident, for which Brown turned himself in during the broadcast.
