10. THE SPIRIT

* Release date: December 25, 2008

* Estimated cost: $60 million

* Domestic gross: $19.8 million

Frank Miller, the man who created the comics “300″ and “Sin City,” and who redefined Batman and Daredevil for the modern age, directed this adaptation of Will Eisner’s comic-strip hero. Starring Samuel L. Jackson and a bevy of beauties, it may have looked good on the page. But onscreen, the heavily stylized, nearly black-and-white results were disastrous. The expensive movie was killed by comic fans, who wanted Miller to go back to comics, and critics, who trashed the movie’s over-the-top tones and aesthetics. Consequently, the partners at the company behind the production, Odd Lot Entertainment, parted ways after 23 years together. It even killed plans for a Miller-directed version of “Buck Rogers.”

Krista Ranillo and Manny Pacquiao, any truth?

It’s all over the news.  First it was rumors of ara mina from way back, now its allegations that Krista Ranillo may be the current flame of Manny.  Right after the thanksgiving mass for Pacquaio’s victory over Cotto, people started gossiping when they saw Manny’s wife Jinkee crying upon hearing the priest’s sermon about how important family is.

Then came the videos alleging that she may be the girl on Manny’s car caught on video leaving after Jimmy Kimmel show taping, according to pinoyambisioso.

Manny later said on TV that it is his life and people should just mind their own business, without blatantly denying or confirming the relationship.

Kris is a daughter of veteran actor Matt Ranillo. She started to rise in her acting carreer when she became part of the cast of the television soap Lira, co-starred with Eula Valdez, then followed by Rio Del Mar in 1998. She was under contract for almost 12 years with GMA Network. In year 2005, she left her home-grown network GMA-7 and became a free lancer actress for almost 2 years. She then transferred to ABS-CBN in 2008 to star in Carlo J. Caparas’ work Pieta.
